Ingredients
50g fresh lotus seeds
50g big longans
250g sugar
7 bowls of water
Preparation
Peel longans; remove the pot, leaving pulp as intact as possible. Soak lotus seeds; remove the shell, outer membrane and the bitter-tasting germ. Boil lotus seeds in water until soft; let cool; put each lotus seed inside each pulp.
Boil and filter sugar; put ten longans (with lotus seeds as the pit) in a bowl; pour in sugar syrup; serve with ice.
(or mix 100g kudzu powder with a bowl of water and slowly pour into the pot of sugar syrup; cook until powder becomes translucent; ladle into bowls and add longans with lotus seeds as the pit. Lotus seed liquor can also be mixed with sugar to make syrup).
